High proficiency and universality

GREIF-belt grinders are designed for high dynamic stresses in industry. They are highly qualified as well for deburring and grinding of welding seams as for cleaning of castings, etc. The grinding performance is the result of approved factors in belt grinding:

  • high speeds of the abrasive belt because of an optimum combination of motor speed and dimensioning of the drive and contact wheels (dia. 200 to 45o mm)
  • large lengths of the abrasive belts (1250 to 3500 mm) to guarantee a sufficient grit cooling before next operation and thus a long service-life
  • easy handling of the abrasive belts by a hand wheel mounted outside the guard for a regular running  of the belt, as well as by a telescopic quick tension-removing lever for belt exchange. (picture 3)

Developped for special purposes: Turbine roller head (R 1)

This special belt grinding device is suitable for several purposes, for which small contact wheels are needed, as for example for the grinding of turbine blades.

Contact wheels with a dia. of 15 to 50 mm and a width of 15 to 50 mm can be mounted onto the belt tensioning arm with help of quick-change adapters. Because of the extremely high speeds the contact wheels are equipped with air cooling as well as greasing for the bearings.

Below the working space the extraction socket is situated, for connection with a dust extraction unit.

Furthermore interior and exterior deburring of the tube ends is made possible by using small contact wheels and small abrasive belts. Picture 4 shows an example of the grinding of interior narrow radii on cycle tread cranks.

During the grinding process: dust extraction is obligatory

The built-in extraction socket in the abrasive belt protection casement uses the fan effect of the belt movement by intercepting to a large extent sparks and grinding dust in their course of flight. If mounted to an extraction unit, dimensioned in accordance with the grinding capacity, the whole system guarantees an extensive dust exhaustion.

In the case of the smaller type D 20-2-2 the use of an exhaust equipment DX-7 (picture 1) is sufficient in general. The steel housing contains filter tubes made of a fireproof material, a fan with motor drive as well as a dust box, easy to handle.

The fan track wheel is driven by a motor, 0,75 kW at 2880 rpm. With clean filter tubes the performance measured at the filter entrance is 115 mm WS and 9 cbm/min.
