The robot has been designed on the basis of a few identical standard components. The main
parts are:
- Five linear actuators with DC motor-driven spindles
- A torsion-proof centre shaft
- A rotation actuator.
These make up the six axes of the robot. To protect the robot against the hostile
environment, it features two bellows, which are pressurized to prevent dust particles from penetrating the moving parts. The operator controls the robot from an IBMcompatible PC.
